Effective Communication

I’ve always wanted to be a leader, and you can be a good leader in so many ways. But for me, the most important part of being a leader is the communication. You have people that need to work together, both with and without you. You need to tell them what to do, what to not do and maybe you shouldn’t tell them what to do.
However, you are responsible for making this team work as good as possible and really get as much out of it as possible. You can’t just give them instructions and think that they’ll know how to do it. You need to communicate, and communicate effective.
How you talk, how you stand, how you look are all different things that send special kind of message and it’s important to know about this. I don’t think it’s necessary to know exactly how everything can be perceived, but to know that these things are important to think about when you are in special situations.
I need to know how to present myself in different kind of situations, in that matter know what to wear and what to say. who am I, and what does people think of me? I want people to respect me, not just because I would like to be the boss/leader, but in all situations. I want people to feel trust and fellowship with me so that they are comfortable expressing their feelings, but at the same time know that I’m actually their boss and not just a friend, how do you do this?  I would like to find out.
And what’s out there that I don’t know? What parts of communication have I never thought about? I want to discover things that right now are UNKNOWN! Effective communication is an important tool for me so that I can become a good workmate, a good friend, a good leader and a great person.

Best Regards
Helene

  1. Yes I agree! I believe that effective communication is the first step to being a better communicator/leader/workmate/etc. The right communication would allow the receiver to know your intentions well. I'm sure we will learn more about how we can present ourselves in different situations in the future as well.

It may be difficult to assert your leadership and dominance with friends, but I believe that the right kind of communication is needed to appear to be in power, yet not too distanced away from your friends to appear stand-offish. I'm sure that we'll all be able to learn more about effective communication in the weeks to come! And may you be a better leader through communicating effectively with the people around you.

  2. Hi Helene

I can finally comment on your blog!! As for your post- include some concrete examples from your experience to demonstrate what you're saying. That will be good.
